She is your mother &

Her famine. Her heart-hunger.

Her love-starved.

 

She was unprepared to

Grow a life outside her body.

Soft & subtle neglects.

There are hungry silences sitting between you two.

Banshees perched

On each shoulder.

Wailing all grave-mouthed,
